Be, Become, Believe

being: the state or quality of having an existence

It's kind of a cool thing, being.  And as long as we're breathing, we are being.  Yet, who and how we choose to be are the keys to everything. Life is a state of being and a process of becoming.

become: to grow or come to be

Your life is a story unfolding.  Your mission to allow yourself to become.  Doing nothing is a choice, though not a very interesting one.  Doing something, actively participating in the story, that's something interesting.  Becoming is a verb, it's about action.  It's funny that we expect teenagers to know what they want to "be" when they grow up.  I'm 50, I still haven't decided.  It's okay to change your mind, it keeps you on your toes.  I have been many things and I will become more as the years unfold as I strive in each moment to become the fullest expression of my potential and expand my happacity so it spills out over every aspect of my life and every interaction.  No matter what we choose, we are, all of us, becoming light.  We are, after all, made from the stuff of stars.

believe: to have a firm conviction as to the goodness or ability of something

Being requires only that we show up.  Becoming requires the willingness to embrace change.  Believing doesn't require, it invites. It allows for possibility, magic, wonder.  Believing beckons us to risk, dare, dream.

Being is the starting point, becoming is the journey and believing is the force that propels us forward.

Be.  Become.  Believe.

Yes, this.

A good reminder and great words to focus on for the year! I think I will share this with my daughter. She could use this reminder as well. I am looking forward to seeing what I become this year as well, but I am still searching for the right word. Enjoy the day, Miss Margot! Erin

Thank you for posting this Margot, especially at the beginning of the year when everyone is still motivated with their resolutions. Or have some already broken their's? I love it when bloggers post these inspirational and motivational posts and I love it especially when you can tell that it's coming from someone who you can tell has had the experience and are sharing a glimpse of their story. - Juliana
