Merry Christmas 2012 from Madge

It's a soggy, dark, dismal day here in the Smokies, so I shall turn on the trees, bake up some cookies, sing Christmas songs with the doggies and snuggle my super awesome kid!  Take that, blustery day!

Life is so short, we are so blessed in so many, many ways and we can choose to focus on the things we don't have, we didn't get, we lost along the way or we can focus on the possibility, the promise, the peace that comes from knowing that all we really need is love. I've got that in spades here in my little mountain cabin and here, with each of you, dear friends, who remind me to take it all a little less seriously. Our problems are small in the grand cosmic picture.

I may not have much, but I have all that I need. It's easy to forget that or get swept up in the culture of lack, but what do we need, really?  I have so much more than so many.  I choose to be content in the knowledge that whatever darkness may fall, the light will return. (And just as I typed that sentence, the sun broke through the clouds! How's that for Christmas magic?) No matter what we face, we must choose joy, no matter the question, the answer is love. Everything in life is perspective, you get that upon which you focus. May your egg nog be frothy and your sugar cookies generously covered in tasty sprinkles.

I wish you all peace, hope and joy but most of all, I wish you love.

Thank you for your insightful post. I am going to make more of an effort to focus on what I have instead of what I don't have.
