Last night I went to dinner with an amazingly inspirational person. Their story of audacity, perseverance, vision, tenacity and outrageous adventure would blow your mind. I was blown away. It just solidified the things I've been telling myself and anyone who would listen for years.
Nothing is impossible. If you don't know how to do it, learn how. If you want it badly enough, you will make it happen. Talent is important, but tenacity and hard work are even more important. If you have talent, vision, tenacity, chutzpah and are willing to work your arse off, you will succeed. It's just a matter of time.
Never give up.
Never, ever, ever compromise on your vision.
Be willing to walk away from ANYTHING if it doesn't serve your happiness and your big picture success.
Go into every single thing you do believing that you are worthy, you are amazing and your vision and intuition are spot on. Don't compromise. Don't let other people water down your vision, make you smaller, shove you into a box that makes them comfortable. If they try, tell them to stuff it. Play hard to get. Never sign the first contract. Don't sign anything that doesn't serve your happiness. If you aren't willing to walk away, they've got you just where they want you.
They need you. If they can't see it, find people who do.
Take control of ALL of it. Don't hand your power away. Don't hand your vision away. Don't trust that anyone else will get it, get you and be able to translate that into something that represents you. They won't. Only you get you, work with people who get that.
Say no. Say no often and with gleeful abandon. Try saying it right now, I'll wait here.
Didn't that feel good?!
Also say yes. Say yes to the things that make you tingle. Say yes to the impossible, outlandish, ridiculous things, they will make you happy. Try saying it right now, I'll wait here.
Didn't that feel good?!
LISTEN to your intuition. Be guided by happiness and not money, because money is the side effect of passion, drive and tenacity. Happiness is the goal.
Share that happiness with others, freely. Don't be worried about people stealing your ideas. You have an endless supply. The glass is not half empty, it's not half full, it's just a glass and you should be willing to drink every last delicious drop and ask for more. The Universe gives free refills.
If you don't have an endless supply of ideas, start looking at the world around you differently. The world is endlessly fascinating and there is infinite inspiration to be had, just open your eyes. Stand on your head. Climb up a tree. Go float your boat. Go out into the world and find it, the elusive inspirado is not elusive, it is staring you in the face every moment. If you don't see it, you're just not paying attention.
Don't look down, don't look back, don't be afraid to fail, don't be afraid to walk away, don't be afraid to let go. Don't be afraid. If you're not a Zen master, become one. Release all attachment. If one thing doesn't work, make up a new thing. Always have several things in the air simultaneously, learn how to juggle. Reinvent yourself every few years, because you can and because it keeps you from becoming dull and pedantic.
DO NOT worry about what other people are doing. Don't feel like you have to look or act like everyone else. Don't let the green eyed monster make you sad. Focus with a relentless laser like focus on your dreams. Pay it forward, backward and sideways. Be genuinely happy for the success of others. If you focus on what you didn't get and what you don't have or what someone else got and what they have, you will spend a lot of time feeling sad. The right opportunities for you will unfold if you keep moving forward. Focus on what you do have, what you have achieved and what you want to manifest. Then go forth and make it happen.
Are you still reading this? GO! Go kick some ass and take some names!

I read parts of this out loud to my husband, as there were some wonderful points that would serve us both well to remember. Especially liked the part about the glass and the Universe giving refills... very very cool, thank you!!
Awesome! So happy to hear it!

LOVED it. I hope you don't mind if I repost some of it on my FB.
As long as you credit the quotes to me, a-okay!
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you. Is it ok if I print this in full - just for me of course? Thank you for this.

No matter what type of mood I am in when I visit your blog I ALWAYS leave with a smile and a renewed creative spirit to boot! I feel like I've been given a gold star on an art project and I can't wait to hang it on my fridge. You are such an inspiration, so encouraging and all around full of awesome!
You're like my new hero or something! I already thought you were cool (well, you still ARE cool, sorry about that past tense...) But now you've written the best go-kick-some-a$$ post that I've ever read. Seriously. I'm printing this out, hanging it in my craft studio, and am going to kick. some. ass. Thanks Margo - you rock!
